3M Privacy Filter for laptops

Lol .. there isn't really much to talk about when it comes to Privacy Filters for computers .. they either work or um ... they don't!

In this case - it does (i.e. it shields all your dodgy stuff you do at work - Facebook, Twitter etc etc from the eyes of people who sit around you) but this filter is not without it's flaws (but I suspect MOST privacy filters also have the same deficiencies.

Pros :
1. Provides privacy! - can FB at work , surf ahem ahem , read lowyat.net ... read devonbuy.com ... read kilangkotak.blogspot.com ....
2. Stays in place - doesn't fall out

Cons :
1. Your screen clarity and sharpness suffers quite a bit ... everything is darker and matte (probably worse than the matte screen protectors you use on your phones to avoid finger prints!)
2. Crap tends to get stuck at the transparent sides that you need to install to hold the Privacy Filter in place (ewwww)
3. Price is likely to be on the expensive side for a quality product like this from 3M (Thanks "Y" - I got mine free :P)

I really don't know what else to say :) .. here are some pictures of the packaging (woohoo!)

Verdict :
Go get one lah ... if you use your laptop in the office. You are unlikely to need super high clarity since you can't watch movies in the office anyway ... and it provides uber privacy from prying eyes!

  1. Is this what you use at work on your office laptop? Have you tried it...is it effective enough?

  2. Yes - I use it on my office laptop Devon. Yup so far nobody has been able to tell that I am blogging instead of working ... zzz (or maybe it doesn't work but they don't tell me either)
